CSE Involved in Activities Related to Climate Change
Climate change has become the number-one issue on the world sustainability agenda and today more than ever a large amount of varied actions are being established on local, national and international level. In a rapidly warming up world, and as a response to the legal and social pressures, businesses need to spot innovative and cost-effective ways to limit their adverse effects to climate change. CSE, therefore, as a leader within its field, offers a plethora of easy-to-implement solutions tailored to the client's area of operation. These include Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions Strategy, Climate Change assessment for ‘’Carbon Footprints’’, Climate Impact Risk Assessment and Management, Greenhouse Gas data reporting assurance and verification, ÅÌÁS & ISO-14001 Certification, Eco label for products & services, Energy Consumption & Pollution Control Schemes based on Global Standards, Cooperation with EU & UN funding programs on Environmental management and conservation.
In addition, CSE will organise a special training workshop entitled "CSR and the Environment", which will be held in Athens on June 7, 2007. During the seminar, issues related to climate change will be discussed, giving participants the opportunity to acquire knowledge on the latest developments. More specifically, CSE's experts will analyse in-depth issues related to environmental management, climate change and CSR, while special emphasis will be given to reporting with regards to the environment.
On June 5, 2007, the United Nations World Environment Day, a number of events and activities have been planned by many countries around the globe. Continuing its initiatives related to the environment, CSE is supporting a number of activities organised for World Environment Day. One of the most important ones is the Sustainable Development Forum, organised by the British Quality Foundation (BQF) in London, which will take place on June 5, 2007 to coincide with World Environment Day. Mr. Nikos Avlonas, Managing Director of CSE, along with Mr. John Swannick, CSR Manager of Lloyds TSB, are among the Forum's keynote speakers. Their joint presentation will cover, among other issues, the business case for corporate responsibility within Lloyds TSB as well as Lloyds TSB's commitment to the environment.
CSE's participation in the afore mentioned event can be added to a number of initiatives CSE has supported in 2007, which relate to the very important issue of the environment and climate change. For example, CSE supported and participated in Ethical Corporation's recent conference regarding climate change, which was held in London on March 7-8, 2007, entitled "Climate Change: How to get your company's message across to consumers".
As far as initiatives within Greece are concerned, CSE is supporting the activities organised by the Hellenic Wind Energy Association on the occasion of European Wind Day 2007 on June 15, 2007.
